I finally got to see A Mighty Wind last night. It is the latest work by my favorite director of mockumentaries, Christopher Guest. He also directed (and starred in) Spinal Tap, Waiting for Guffman, and Best In Show.
We had to drive an hour and a half away to our prestigious state capital to see it, as it was only being shown at the historical Capri Theatre.
The Capri Theatre has but one screen and was built in the 1940's. Once inside, one can really visualize a group of excited youngsters from days of yore crowding in to see the "picture show" and watch newsreels to get the latest on "our boys" who were undoubtedly "over there." That was back when the "axis" really was indeed evil. Ah, nostalgia!
